How to tune other ITV regions

October 2008
Please note that some ITV sub-regions were encrypted again during the summer and therefore can only be received with a Sky digibox. The regions affected have been chopped and changed around in the intervening months but this list is correct as at end-October. They are:
Anglia West
Central South West
Meridian North
Meridian South East
Tyne Tees South
Yorkshire East
All these regions are on the Astra 2B north beam which means that with a viewing card you can pick them up much further afield than the clear regions - might be a useful option when you're travelling round Europe.

If I want to see any of the other ITV1 channels (such as the one local to the area I'm staying in, for example), can I do it? (Sky boxes only)

Yes you can although with the exception of ITV1 London it's not as simple as selecting an EPG channel number. For people outside the London area, ITV1 London is available on Sky channel 993 but the other ITV regions don't occupy their own specific slots on the EPG. To gain access to them you have to use the Add Channel facility. To do that, press Services on your remote control, then press 4 twice to get to Add Channel. The screen will look similar to the one you use to get the Astra south beam. Using the remote control's down and left/right arrow keys as appropriate, change the settings as follows (type in the first 5 digits, ignoring the decimal point, and use the left/right arrows for the other elements):

10.758 V 22 5/6 (Anglia East)
(Central West)
(Granada)
(London)
(ITV2)
(ITV4)
10.832 H 22 5/6 (Border N England)
(Central E)
(Central S)
(Wales)
(West)
(West Country)
10.891 H 22 5/6 (Anglia South)
(Border Scotland)
(Tyne Tees North)
(Meridian S)
(Meridian E)
(Yorkshire W)
10.906 V 22 5/6 (Channel Islands)
(Scottish TV East)
(Scottish TV North)
(Scottish TV West)
(UTV)
(ITV3)
(ITV3+1)
12.402 V 27.5 2/3 (Anglia West)
(Central SW)
(Meridian North)
(Meridian SE)
(Tyne Tees South)
(Yorkshire East)

(Note the channels on 12.402 are encrypted and require a Sky viewing card)
and for each setting, highlight Find Channels and press Select. Store the required channel(s) in turn by highlighting and then pressing the yellow button. A tick will appear against each selected channel. Finally press the Sky button to return to the normal screen. From now on, to choose a region press Services then 6 (Other Channels). Highlight the region you want and press Select. This procedure has no effect on any other digibox settings and is therefore quite safe to experiment with. Note that you won't be able to set a Sky+ box to record any programmes from these regions - that's controlled by the EPG.
