{short description of image}

Please note I no longer accept new links to suppliers' websites. I used to accept them as a result of customer recommendations, never directly from the company itself. That was so that I didn't simply provide free advertising for companies I didn't know and couldn't vouch for. However I began to suspect that some companies were getting around that by emailing me as if from a satisfied customer.
I have no clear proof but I'm not prepared to take the risk, so the page is now closed to new links.

I do check these links from time to time but occasionally the odd broken link slips through. If you find any, please let me know.

Miscellaneous.

It's all Chinese Itsallchinese.co.uk. OK, so what has this to do with caravanning or indeed satellite TV? Answer - nothing whatsoever! However my niece is launching her own business as a teacher and translator of Mandarin. Her website needs a bit of help with the search engines so I'm placing this link to help get her a little exposure.

Caravanable.co.uk Caravanable.co.uk. Information on caravanning facilities for the disabled.

Freesat.co.uk. Freesat is the new satellite service sponsored jointly by the BBC and ITV.

SayNoTo0870 SayNoTo0870.com. So-called national rate numbers are often charged at higher rates than geographic numbers. Not only that but incoming calls from abroad often don't connect, making internet access difficult if not impossible. This website gives geographic equivalents for many 0845 and 0870 numbers.

WILDSAT www.wildsat.com. Full list of all current Sky EPG channel listings.

MailWasher www.mailwasher.net. I know this is nothing to do with satellite TV but I find it invaluable. It prescans your incoming emails and categorises them into 'friendly', possible virus, probable spam, etc. Because it does that without downloading the messages, you get the opportunity to check them out before they get on to your computer. Spam emails can then be bounced back as a fake 'Address not found' to discourage subsequent targetting, and they can also be deleted directly from the server so they don't get downloaded on to your computer at all. It works in conjunction with your regular email software (Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, etc) Best of all, MailWasher is free!

Technical information.

Sky digibox manuals These two websites have (at the time of writing) downloadable digibox manuals in PDF format.
http://www.satseekers.net/product-pictures/data-sheets/BSKYB2600C1_UG.pdf (standard box only)
http://www.smart2check.com/downloads.htm (standard box and Sky+)

ASTRA 2D The unofficial Astra 2D website. Created by an expat to help others. Lots of information on reception of BBC/ITV across Europe.

DigitalSpy
Forums
The satellite forum at www.digitalspy.co.uk is a huge volunteer resource for information about all aspects of satellite TV. If you have any queries, you'll almost certainly get help here. Be warned that some contributors only think they know what they're talking about. Others really do; the trick is to work out which is which! I'm an occasional contributor under the name 'Davesull' (but I of course fall into the first category!).

DigitalSpy Digibox reviews. If you're in the market for a new digibox, this page has reviews of all current and many used models.

Dishpointer.com Dishpointer.com. Useful aid to finding the direction of the satellite. Select the satellite group from the drop-down menu, enter your location (postcode in the UK or town in mainland Europe) and you'll be presented with a Google map with a green line showing the exact direction of the satellite. Zoom in or out as needed and drag the line's base marker to your exact position (even to your specific pitch if you want!)
Sam Radford Sam is a former owner of a TV shop. Although retired now, he retains an interest in satellite technology and his website is a mine of technical information - sometimes irrascible (look at his Contact Me page), always entertaining.

Chris Vowles Chris Vowles has a website that gives lots of useful help and advice about satellite issues, problems, news, etc.

Programme listings and information.

DigiGuide DigiGuide. Online TV listings. Available for PCs, laptops, PDAs and WAP-enabled mobile phones - the perfect complement to caravan-based satellite systems. Free PC software download, try it out then £9.99 per annum to register (per user, you're allowed to install it on more than 1 computer). There's a discount for buying more than 1 year at a time. The software is fully customisable and downloads of weekly listings for all available channels are free. It works with Windows Vista too. SatCure SatCure is an online supplier of equipment and information. In addition to the supply of all kinds of equipment for satellite reception the owner, Martin Pickering, has written a number of books which are available as downloadable files, some free of charge, others at a moderate charge. Amongst thousands of lines, the company also now supplies its own camping dish kit (www.satcure.co.uk/accs/carakit1.htm). If you wish to purchase goods from Satcure, this link will give you a discount voucher. The voucher facility is provided entirely for your benefit; it carries no endorsement by me and my commission goes directly to Cancer Research UK.
