{short description of image}

Please note I no longer accept new links to suppliers' websites. I used to accept them as a result of customer recommendations, never directly from the company itself. That was so that I didn't simply provide free advertising for companies I didn't know and couldn't vouch for. However I began to suspect that some companies were getting around that by emailing me as if from a satisfied customer.
I have no clear proof but I'm not prepared to take the risk, so the page is now closed to new links.

I do check these links from time to time but occasionally the odd broken link slips through. If you find any, please let me know.

Miscellaneous.

It's all Chinese Itsallchinese.co.uk. OK, so what has this to do with caravanning or indeed satellite TV? Answer - nothing whatsoever! However my niece is launching her own business as a teacher and translator of Mandarin. Her website needs a bit of help with the search engines so I'm placing this link to help get her a little exposure.

Caravanable.co.uk Caravanable.co.uk. Information on caravanning facilities for the disabled.

Freesat.co.uk. Freesat is the new satellite service sponsored jointly by the BBC and ITV.

Motorwayparkingforcaravans.co.uk. The best and worst motorway service areas for caravanners. (My other caravanning website but now closed to further updates.)

SayNoTo0870 SayNoTo0870.com. So-called national rate numbers are often charged at higher rates than geographic numbers. Not only that but incoming calls from abroad often don't connect, making internet access difficult if not impossible. This website gives geographic equivalents for many 0845 and 0870 numbers.

Silver Surfers Silver surfers. A website for people of a certain age (such as me ...)

WILDSAT www.wildsat.com. Full list of all current Sky EPG channel listings.

MailWasher www.mailwasher.net. I know this is nothing to do with satellite TV but I find it invaluable. It prescans your incoming emails and categorises them into 'friendly', possible virus, probable spam, etc. Because it does that without downloading the messages, you get the opportunity to check them out before they get on to your computer. Spam emails can then be bounced back as a fake 'Address not found' to discourage subsequent targetting, and they can also be deleted directly from the server so they don't get downloaded on to your computer at all. It works in conjunction with your regular email software (Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, etc) Best of all, MailWasher is free!

Digital Spy DigitalSpy. Good website for satellite news.

DigitalSpy
Forums
The satellite forum at www.digitalspy.co.uk is a huge volunteer resource for information about all aspects of satellite TV. If you have any queries, you'll almost certainly get help here. Be warned that some contributors only think they know what they're talking about. Others really do; the trick is to work out which is which! I'm an occasional contributor under the name 'Davesull' (but I of course fall into the first category!).

DigitalSpy Digibox reviews. If you're in the market for a new digibox, this page has reviews of all current and many used models.

Free-to-air consortium The Digital TV Group. This website gives information about what services are available without subscription and how to get them.

Sam Radford Sam is a former owner of a TV shop. Although retired now, he retains an interest in satellite technology and his website is a mine of technical information - sometimes irrascible (look at his Contact Me page), always entertaining.

SMW SMW is a Swedish LNB manufacturer. Their English-language web site contains lots of information on footprints. It also has free downloadable software for pinpointing the satellite system from anywhere in Europe.

Chris Vowles Chris Vowles has a website that gives lots of useful help and advice about satellite issues, problems, news, etc.

Programme listings and information.

DigiGuide DigiGuide. Online TV listings. Available for PCs, laptops, PDAs and WAP-enabled mobile phones - the perfect complement to caravan-based satellite systems. Free PC software download, try it out then £9.99 per annum to register (per user, you're allowed to install it on more than 1 computer). There's a discount for buying more than 1 year at a time. The software is fully customisable and downloads of weekly listings for all available channels are free. It works with Windows Vista too. Ebay Ebay is an online auction house with categories for just about anything you can imagine. One of them is satellite receiver/decoders. Worth investigating for cheap goods. (But ignore any listings that say you can get Sky Box Office without paying. They're scams and don't work - Sky isn't stupid!)

Grandata Grandata. Good value for signal meters. They sell a signal meter for £10 (exc VAT/P&P). From the main page click the Catalogue button and then choose Aerial Installation Accessories. Recommended by Chris Hall.

Ten-Haaft Ten-Haaft. An unusual entry, this. Ten-Haaft is a German company recommended by Gary Elliott. He reckons it's the cheapest supplier and installer of Oyster dishes in Europe. Even allowing for the travelling costs, he says it's cheaper than getting the job done in the UK (sorry, UK dealers, blame Gary, I'm just the messenger!) The contact is Simone Murphy who's an English speaker - she can be contacted at SMurphy@ten-haaft.de
